FAMED COMEDIAN DAVIDSON FOR CELEBRITY CHALLENGE MATCH

DUBAI, Feb 2 - Famed British comedian Jim Davidson promises to enliven the proceedings when he features in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic's Celebrity 'Challenge Match' at the Emirates Golf Club o February 7.
Well known for his cutting edge humour and his uncanny ability to send crowds into peals of laughter, the 57-year-old will join fellow Englishmen -- world number three Lee Westwood and celebrated cricketer Sir Ian Botham -- among other celebrities in the field which this year wears a new look.
Davidson, who first shot to fame in the seventies after winning the TV talent show New Faces in the seventies, is a familiar face in Dubai having hosted a series of celebrity evenings in the city. He has also featured in several pro am events.
"With Jim in the field, one thing is guaranteed - first-class entertainment. I do hope the fans will turn up in big numbers to watch the Challenge Match," said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi.
The Celebrity Challenge Match, which formally kicks off the tournament week, gets under way at 6pm at the par-3 course of the Emirates Golf Club. Cameras will be allowed and there will be no restrictions on autograph hunters.
