Sweden's Stenson and Jimenez of Spain carded a winning score five-under-par 22, one shot ahead of two-time major winner O'Meara and defending Dubai Desert Classic champion McIlroy.

Eight-time major winner Tom Watson and European number Lee Westwood finished third on one-under-par 26.

The six players were divided into three teams, each comprising two players. They followed the greensomes format in a match that offered the fans a rare opportunity to watch the stars up close and personal as they delivered a 'clinic' in wedge and iron play.

Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi - the promoters and organisers of the $2.5 million European Tour event - presented the prizes at the dinner reception.

"I would like to thank Jumeirah Golf Estates for sponsoring the Challenge Match, an opening event which has always been a quite a hit with the fans. And this time it was no exception." said Buamaim.
